Cinematographer / Director of Photography

Camera, lighting, coverage, and on-set leadership for documentary, branded, editorial, and education-focused productions.

Focus

As a cinematographer and director of photography, I'm responsible for how the work holds visually under real production conditions. That includes camera strategy, lighting, composition, exposure consistency, and the practical decisions that keep coverage strong enough for post.

I'm interested in images that feel intentional without feeling overworked. The frame should be legible, emotionally precise, and structurally dependable.

On Set

What I do on set

  • Build the visual approach for the day: camera placement, lensing, lighting, and coverage priorities.
  • Direct talent and manage set flow when the work needs both performance and efficiency.
  • Maintain continuity across scenes, modules, episodes, or recurring series.
  • Capture footage that looks refined but remains useful in the edit.

Visual Priorities

Beauty has to stay useful

In documentary and educational work especially, beauty can't come at the expense of clarity. Clean hand detail, stable lighting, readable movement, and consistent exposure matter just as much as the mood of the frame.

Systems

Technical consistency protects the project

A lot of DP work is invisible when it's going well. Clean audio, stable exposure, repeatable lighting, organized media, and predictable camera standards protect the project long after the shoot day ends.

Ideal Engagements

Where this fits best

  • Documentary and documentary-led branded films.
  • Athlete and profile pieces.
  • Educational and process-heavy productions.
  • Agency projects that need both taste and reliability.

Need a cinematographer or director of photography for a documentary, branded, or editorial production?

If the job needs visual taste, coverage discipline, and a production approach that stays calm under pressure, I'd be glad to talk through it.
